Won't tallow clog my pores?
While everyone is different, tallow is considered to be low on the comedogenic scale (level 2) which means it is less likely to clog pores. This is one of the reasons why tallow is great for reducing and even curing acne for many. All other contents within our moisturizers are either a level 2 or less on the comedogenic scale, further reducing the chances of clogging pores.
I have oily skin - won't tallow make me more oily?
​When someone has oily skin, it's your body's way of telling you that you need MORE oil. Your skin creates the additional oil on your face because it is lacking in what it needs. By applying Kali Ma moisturizer to your face on a regular basis, it will help to even out skin tone and oil content. And a little of the Kali Ma moisturizer goes a long way - you don't need much when you apply. In the long run, using our moisturizer will help to reduce the oil your skin produces.

What's the shelf life of a tallow moisturizer?
At Kali Ma, we keep all out products in the fridge until delivery. Once out of the fridge, your moisturizer will last one year if stored correctly.
Can I wear makeup on top of Kali Ma moisturizer?
Definitely! Once you apply the moisturizer, wait about 15 minutes to allow it to absorb before applying your makeup.
Where should I store my moisturizer?
​Keep all Kali Ma products at room temperature (i.e. 22 degrees Celsius) and out of sunlight. A bathroom cabinet is an ideal location.
Can children use tallow?
Absolutely - tallow is safe and helpful for all ages, including babies, as it is made from only natural and healthy ingredients. However, everyone responds differently, so it is recommended to patch-test on a small area first, especially for children and those individuals with sensitive skin.
Since tallow is made from beef, won't there be a strong odor?
While there is a mild and natural fragrance with tallow, with Kali Ma products, this is essentially imperceptible since our tallow has been double purified to remove contaminants and odours. Also, we combine a number of essential oils in all our products which becomes the dominant fragrance.
Where do you source your tallow?
Our beef fat, which is then rendered and purified into tallow, is sourced from Ontario farmers that raise grass fed and GMO free cattle, using Pesticide-free practices. The cattle are also treated humanely and live in harmony for the duration of their lives.
